Lord, I don’t want to die.

But as I say it

I see

the celestial city

and am caught up

in the beauty of it all,

the joy of it.

So what is this

‘Lord, I don’t want to die’?

Always, always

there’s a pain,

you can know it’s right

and long to go,

but always, always there’s a pain,

as you take that last look round

as you walk away knowing

you’ll never look back.

Always, always there’s a pain;

The parting may be tomorrow

the parting may not be for years,

but today

I tasted

the pain

of

parting.

The pain of parting
