I see them everywhere

The crucified.

Those for whom love died

Who saw a second chance

Forgiveness, re-birth in action

And then were crucified.

Those called to serve,

To minister, to preach,

Whose sex denied

And then were crucified.

I see them everywhere

The crucified.

Those whose faith

Led them beyond

The confines of ‘accepted doctrine’

And then were crucified.

 

I see them everywhere

The crucified.

Those who in honesty, in love

Faced their inner selves

And grew beyond

And then were crucified.

 

I see them everywhere

The crucified.

Was it for this He died

That the Church might become, again,

The instrument

Of crucifixion.
